ANNIE MeDORA BRYANT LAINE

   COURTLAND - Mrs. Dora Bryant Laine, 79, died Sunday at noon in a hospital 
after a lingering illness.

   She was the widow of Rufus Franklin Laine, and the daughter of the late 
James Lewis and Lucy Beale Bryant, of Southampton County.  She was a member 
of the Vincent’s Grove Methodist Church.

   Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. Emmett R. Vaughan and Mrs. Carol W. 
Barnes, both of Courtland; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; 
three sisters; Mrs. Minnie Bryant, Courtland, Mrs. Lessie Price, and Mrs. 
Maude Russell, both of Portsmouth; two brothers; S.L. Bryant, Courtland, and 
H.E. Bryant, Emporia, a number of nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services were held from the Holland Funeral Chapel.

   Active pallbearers were Dallas Johnson, G.S. Burgess, Lewis Babb, Russell 
Newbern, William R. Davis, Harwood Babb, Thomas Vaughan and Emmett Applewhite.
