LYON, EXECUTIVE, DIES FRANKLIN - Harold Judson "Hal" Lyon, a theater and hotel executive, died Wednesday at his home here. He was 67. Mr. Lyon was president and general manager of the Lyon Realty Corp., Hal Lyon Enterprises, Inc., and the Franklin Amusement Corp. He was also the owner of Motion Picture Theatres and Hotels and the Townhouse here. From 1944 to 1948, he served as president of the National Foundation of Infantile Paralysis, and he was a former president of the Franklin Chapter of Commerce and the Virginia Motion Picture Theatre Owners. He was a director of the Virginia Hotel & Motel Association and was a member of the Richmond Organ Enthusiastic and the Franklin Lions Club. He was a vice president of the Franklin Community Fund, Inc., in 1942 and 1943. A graduate of the American Conservatory of Music, Mr. Lyon received his master’s degree from Union Theological Seminary. He was master of music at the Franklin Baptist Church from 1930 to 1945, and was organist and choirmaster of the High Street Methodist Church in Franklin from 1945 until 1963. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Halouise Lyon McDowell of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. Funeral arrangements were incomplete. ****************************************************************************** HAROLD JUDSON LYON Harold Judson Lyon, 67, theatre and hotel executive died May 11, 1977 at his home on High Street, Franklin. He was the son of the late Judson and Clary Parker Lyon. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Louise Basnight Lyon. He was a graduate of the American Conservatory of Music, Westminister Choir and his Masters from Union Theological Seminary, also, he had studied with private tutors. He was Master of Music in Franklin Baptist Church from 1930 to 1945. He was organist and choir master of the High Street Methodist Church, Franklin from 1945 to 1963, president and general manager of Lyon Reality Corp., Hal Lyon Enterprises, Inc., Franklin Amusement Corp.; he was owner and operator of Motion Picture Theatres and Hotels; he also owned the Townhouse in Franklin. He was president of the Franklin Housing Corp. and vice-president of the Virginia Travel Council. He was president of the Franklin Community Fund, Inc. from 1942 to 1943. He was president of the National Foundational of Infantile Paralysis from 1944 to 1948, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Motion Picture Theatre Owners, he was director of the Virginia Hotel Association, he was a member of the Lions Club and Richmond Organ Enthusiastic. Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Halouise Lyon McDowell and two grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are pending at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
