IVOR - Walter West Laine, Jr., 43, died Friday in a Richmond Hospital after an illness of one month. He was the son of the late Walter W. and Gay Ashton Matthews West Laine. He was a native of Southampton County and was Federal State inspector for the Virginia Division of Markets at the time of his death. He was a member of Millfield Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Woodlief Laine of Ivor, two daughters, Miss Nancy Lois Laine, Miss Brenda Gay Laine, and one son, James Edward Laine, all of Ivor. Two sisters, Mrs. Huntas L. Joyner, of Dendron and Mrs. Jennie L. Bass of Courtland. Two brothers, Willie J. Laine of Dendron and Ashton W. Laine of Miami Springs, Fla., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Millfield Baptist Church Sunday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. J.L. McTeer of officiating. Burial was in the Church cemetery. Pallbearers were E.V. Stephenson, Merideth Felts, Herman Wade, Joe Harrup, Robert Harrup, Sam Stephenson, Walter Raiford and G.P. Raiford.
