Lamb, aged 70, for many years engaged in the grocery business in Portsmouth, died Wednesday night of last week in a Miami, Fla., hospital to which he was taken unconscious earlier in the day after having been stricken seriously ill. He and Mrs. Lamb had been in Florida for the past four weeks visiting their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Draper. Mr. Lamb was a native of Southampton County, where he is widely known, but had lived in Portsmouth for the past 45 years. He was the son of the late J.W. and Mrs. Rose Lamb. Prior to his entry into the mercantile business he was engaged as a foreman at the Seaboard Air line Railway shops. He retired from the grocery business several years ago. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, serving on the board of deacons for more than 25 years. He also held membership in the Portsmouth Retail Merchants Association, Tidal Wave Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodge. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Evie Lamb, Mr. Lamb is survived by three sons, M.A. Lamb, O.K. Lamb and Hurley Lamb, all of Portsmouth; three daughters, Mrs. Harry C. Rudd and Mrs. William P. Putnam of Portsmouth and Mrs. C.C. Draper of Miami, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Jesse D. Vick of Courtland; a brother, Maynard Lamb of Boykins; several grandchildren, two great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The body arrived in Portsmouth Saturday, funeral services being conducted Sunday afternoon at 4:30 at Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Ralph J. Kirby, Rev. G.S. Carlton and Rev. Irvin Williams. During the services the church choir sang "Haven of Rest" and "Asleep in Jesus." A solo, "Good Night and Good Morning," was rendered by Clarence Baker. Burial was in Olive Branch Cemetery. William R.
