LANKFORD DIES RETIRED OWNER OF FRANKLIN FLORIST SHOP Mrs. Bertha Blythe Lankford, retired owner of the former Lankford Florist here, died yesterday in a Franklin nursing home after a lengthy illness. She was 86. A native of Southampton County, Mrs. Lankford was educated there. She opened her florist shop with her husband in 1947 and operated it until her retirement in 1974. She was the widow of Harvey A. Lankford Sr. Mrs. Lankford was a member of the Congregational Christian Church in Franklin. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Gladys L. Wills of Franklin and Miss Audrey J. Lankford of Richmond; two sons, Harvey A. Lankford Jr., of Franklin and Burnley H. "Pete" Lankford of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie B. Carr of Franklin and Mrs. Hazel B. Corbitt of Newport News; a brother, Howard Blythe of Franklin; and eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Wright Funeral Home in Franklin.
