Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Irvin Lankford, Sam W. Lankford, Jr., Jasper L. Norfleet, S.C. Branch, David Wiggins, Dr. Sidney Kitterman, John W. Wheeler and Jesse Vaughan. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. Effie W. Lankford Mrs. Effie Wiggins Lankford, 84, a former resident of Franklin died Monday, September 2, at 1:50 p.m. at her home, 820 Duke Street, Norfolk. She was the widow of William H. Lankford, who for many years conducted a furniture business in Franklin, and the daughter of the late John Bowers and Mrs. Mary Sarah Parker Wiggins of Southampton County. Mrs. Lankford was a native of the Franklin community and had made her home in Norfolk for five years. She was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Norfleet of Portsmouth and Mrs. J. F. Kitterman of Norfolk; a brother, Jasper L. Wiggins of Edenton, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the W. J. M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church.
