Mr. Lankford, a native and former resident of Franklin, was 62 years of age, the son of the late James Irvin and Mrs. Sarah Barnes Lankford of this community, and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Catherine Lankford of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three brothers, W.H., S.W. and Robert I. Lankford; three sisters, Mrs. J.L. Eley, Sr., Mrs. E.L. Vaughan and Mrs. Hunter Darden, all of Franklin, besides a large family connection. Funeral rites were held from the home of his sister, Mrs. J.L. Eley, Sr., in Norfleet Street Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock conducted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson, assisted by Rev. Floyd P. Davis of Sycamore Church. Burial was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the pallbearers being nephews of Mr. Lankford: Irvin, Hudson, and Sam Lankford, Jr., John L. Eley, Jr., Clyde and Jasper Eley, Hunter Darden, Jr. and Jesse Frank Vaughan. George Dennis LANKFORD, Franklin native, d.
