JESSE THOMAS LANKFORD

   Jesse T. Lankford died at the home of his brother, S.W. Lankford, of this 
community Sunday, March 5, in the 29th* year of his life.  For several years 
he had been in ill-health and for the past two years had been bed-ridden, 
hopeless of recovery but facing the end with calmness and resignation, 
sustained by the faith of his Christian Experience.  He had been a member of 
Sycamore Baptist church since early childhood and the funeral services were 
conducted from that church Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock by his pastor, Rev. 
E. Norfleet Gardner, assisted by Rev. J.L. McCutcheon, the interment following 
in the churchyard cemetery.  The pallbearers were W.O. Bristow, Presley Eley, 
Alfred Cobb, Joe Webb, Tommie Vaughan, M.G. Council, I.Q. Wiggins and M.G. 
McClenny.

   The deceased in survived by his aged Mother, Mrs. Sarah Lankford; four 
brothers, W.H., R.E. and S.W. Lankford of Franklin and G.D. Lankford of New 
Bern, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. E.L. Vaughan, Mrs. J.L. Eley and Mrs. Hunter 
Darden, all of this community besides many relatives and friends who have the 
sympathy of everyone in their bereavement.
