All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ REGGIE RALSTON LANKFORD Reggie Ralston Lankford, 72, a native of Southampton County and a retired farmer, died Thursday afternoon in his home after illness of several months. He was the husband of Mrs. Julia Griffin Lankford and a son of Andrew T. and Mrs. Indiana Drake Lankford of Southampton County. He was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church and Hunterdale Ruritan Club. Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Frances Free of Greenville, S.C.; two sons, James T. Lankford of Edensburg, Pa., and Norman G. Lankford of Franklin; a sister, Mrs. C.J. Holcomb Sr., and two brothers, V.C. Lankford, Sr., and Harvey A. Lankford, Sr., all of Franklin; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services was held at 2 p.m. Saturday in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Chapel by the Rev. St. Elmo Nauman, pastor of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring cemetery. Pallbearers were Harvey A. Lankford, Jr., James Braxton Holcombe, Jr., Wesley Wills, Edward H. Blythe, Richard Cutchins, Ashley Lankford, Norman White and Hunter Darden, Jr. "Reggie" Roger Ralston LANKFORD, retired farmer, Southampton Co. native, d. 26 Jun 1964, at home, age 72, interred in Poplar Spring Cemetery (Annex 3, Section B, Plot 44*), Franklin, 28 Jun 1964, "The Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), June 29, 1964, Sect. Reggie's first wife, "Zellie" CUTCHIN LANKFORD, may also have been buried there - her D.Cert. gives place of burial as Sedley.
