A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Berlie Burgess Lankford. He was a vegetable and plant grower and shipper. He was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mildred L. Blythe of Franklin and Mrs. Nelda L. Morton of Portsmouth; two sons, Vincent C. Lankford Jr. and Ashley D. Lankford of Franklin; seven grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. John Kelly and the Rev. R.E. Brittle. W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home has charge.
