Lankford, a prominent Baptist minister of this county, died at his home in Drewryville Tuesday night, December 5, in his sixty-fifth year. He had been in ill health for any months and was practically blind for the last two years of his life. Mr. Lankford had been in the ministry for eighteen years, the greater part of this service being given to the Baptist churches at Drewryville, Capron, Adams Grove, and Hebron, all in this county, where he numbered a large circle of friends who admired him for his Godly qualities and his faithfulness to the Master in all things. He was a native of Franklin County, N.C., a son of the late Menalcus Lankford, who lived in this county for many years, and a brother of Mrs. L.R. Edwards of Franklin and of the late Dr. Livius Lankford of Norfolk. He is survived by his widow and by two children, McClenny and Janice Lankford. Funeral services were conducted from Thomas Memorial Church, Drewryville, Wednesday, by Rev. C.T. Taylor of Emporia and interment was made in the family plot in the cemetery at Suffolk, with Masonic rites at the grave. Rev.
