WILLIAM E. LANKFORD

   FRANKLIN - William E. Lankford, 68, of the 600 block of Pace St., a retired 
game biologist, died Aug. 25, in his home.

   Mr. Lankford, a native of Southampton County, was a member of Franklin 
Baptist Church.  He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired major 
with the Virginia National Guard.  He was retired from the Virginia Commission 
of Game and Inland Fisheries.  He was a member of Franklin  Masonic Lodge 151, 
Franklin American Legion and Franklin Moose Lodge 1573.

   Survivors include his wife, Hazel S. Lankford; a daughter, Linda Lou 
Lankford Zacuto of Los Angeles; two stepsons, Lud Lorenzo Spivey and Shelton 
Aubrey Spivey, both of Windsor; four sisters, Clarice L. Thompson and Clara L. 
Walker, both of Norfolk, Iris L. Woods of Charlotte and Irene L. Bland of 
Plano, Tx.; three brothers, Hudson R. Lankford, Royce B. Lankford, and Aubrey 
Lankford, all of Franklin; and six grandchildren.

   The graveside service, with military honors, will be conducted at 11 a.m. 
Thursday in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery by the Revs. Ira Hudgins, Donald 
Trump and Michael Clingenpeel.
