Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ashby Blythe, Gene Lanier, J.C. Davis, W.R. Atkinson Jr., Bill Davis, Billy Daniels, Talmadge Collier, and Garland Duck. Lanier, 60, died Friday night in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Northampton County, N.C., he was a son of Joseph Arthur and Mrs. Bessie Bridges Lanier and the husband of Mrs. Margaret* Johnson Lanier. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and Forks of the River Ruritan Club. He was also an Army veteran of World War II. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph Arthur Lanier of Franklin; and three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Lassiter, Mrs. Reno Flythe and Mrs. Ray Davidson of Conway, N.C.
