ALONZA ROCHELLE LAWRENCE

Rochelle Lawrence

A. Rochelle Lawrence, 83, a resident of the South Quay community, Nansemond 
County, and retired commission merchant of Washington, D.C., died in Obici 
Hospital, Suffolk, on Tuesday morning, May 14, after an illness of several 
weeks.

He was the son of the late Capt. Jonas W. and Virginia Lee Lawrence, and was 
educated at Elton College.  Since his retirement he had made his home with his 
nephew, J. Jack Jones of South Quay.  He is survived by nieces and nephews.

Services for Mr. Lawrence were held in the chapel of W. J. M. Holland & Sons 
on Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, with Rev. Tucker G. Humphries, pastor of 
the Franklin Congregational Church, officiating.  Burial was in Poplar Spring 
Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Otis Baines, S. D. Carnes, Delaney Hingerty, Gene Holland, 
Thomas S. Jones, Wayland F. Jones, L.F. Owens and Jim Rawls.
