LAWRENCE, CONTRACTOR, DIES James Richard Lawrence, 64, painting contractor, died Sunday morning at his home, Brookside Farm. The husband of Mrs. Clarys McClenny, Lawrence and a son of Mills Edward and Josephine Pruden Lawrence of Franklin, he was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow; two sons, James F. Lawrence, student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and J. Richard Lawrence, Jr., student at the University of Richmond; a daughter, Leora Elizabeth Lawrence of Franklin; a brother, David T. Lawrence of Franklin, and four sisters, Mrs. Josie Sykes, Miss Vergie Lawrence and Miss Doris Lawrence of Franklin and Mrs. Winfield C. Jackley of Chicago. A funeral service was conducted in old Franklin Baptist Church Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor and the Rev. Dr. Edward C. Pruden of First Baptist Church of Washington, D.C. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were William Peterson, Wayland F. Jones, William Bradshaw, J.P. Bradshaw, Judy Copeland, E.K. Brinkley, Wesley Beale and Stanley T. Holland.
