Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr. and the Rev. John W. Williams. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Roy Howard, Lacy Howard, Bob Meade, Jack Story, Francis Clark and William Darden. Mobley, 59, died Thursday in a Richmond hospital after a long illness. A native of Grimesland, N.C., he was the husband of Mrs. Bessie Edwards and a son of the late Robert and Mrs. Betty Ross Mobley. He was retired from St. Regis Paper Co. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Besides his widow, surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mabel M. Hawkins of Carrsville and Mrs. Emily M. Ferguson of Courtland, a son, Jesse Ray Mobley of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Nettie Hodges, Mrs. Cassie Hodges of Grimesland, Mrs. Hattie Ealks of Simpson, N.C., and Mrs. Lizzie Prophet of Jacksonville, Fla., three brothers, Willie Mobley of Greenville, N.C., Jay Mobley of Grimesland, and Richard Mobley of Simpson; and 14 grandchildren.
