All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ CHARLES HOWARD MAGEE Charles Howard Magee, oldest child of John Joe Magee and Mrs. Irma Magee, died at the home of his parents in South Main Street Monday night after a long illness. In his 21st year, Howard had been a great sufferer, receiving the constant care and affection of his parents and many kind neighbors. He was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church and Sunday school where he was a regular attendant until failing health confined him to his home. Besides his parents, he leaves a younger brother, John Joe Magee, Jr. Funeral rites were conducted from the Magee residence Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock by the pastor, Rev. R.D. Stephenson, a quartette from the church, Mrs. H.G. Cobb, Mrs. F.E. Howell, E.K. Brinkley and Percy Bunch, singing "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Burial was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the pallbearers being: William, Herbert and James Fowler, J.W. Whitley and Rupert Magee of Newport News, James Ira Magee of Norlina and John Beale, Jr. There were many beautiful floral offerings.
