He was a son of Emmett G. and Mrs. Eva Howell McGhee of Nansemond County. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Emma Simpson McGhee; two sons, Robert Gilliam McGhee of Franklin and Ernest Russell McGhee of Newport News; and two grandchildren. A funeral service was held in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Chapel Wednesday at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Elmo Nauman of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donnie Eason, Fred Parker, James Howell, Vaughan Beale, John Beaton, Junius Bradshaw and James O. Battle.
