[...] GIRL GRADUATE DEAD. Miss Bettie Majette died this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.S. Majette, in Southampton county, seven miles from Newsom. She had been ill for three weeks from typhoid fever. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon from the home at 4 o'clock. Rev. J.C. Fushee will preach it. Mary Elizabeth Majette was 19 years old. She was well known in Suffolk, where she lived for several years and where she graduated in June last with marked honors. The deceased leaves a sister, Miss Effa Majette, of Southampton county, and one brother, Eddie Majette, of China Hill, Ga. Another brother died last spring. She was a cousin of Col. Thomas W. Smith, Mrs. R.H. Morgan and Miss Bettie Riddick, of Suffolk. Miss Majette was said to be among the sweetest and most lovable of the many who have graduated at Suffolk College.
