Bobby Tyson. W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, was in charge. Pallbearers were D.C. Magette Jr., Ryland Brooks, Ben A. Williams Jr., F. Bert Pulley, Robert Magette, Raymond Magette, Dr. Vernon I. Tiller and William Pope. Mrs. Magette, 66, a retired teacher, died Wednesday morning in her home. A native of Southampton County, she was the wife of Leroy A. Magette and a daughter of Robert Amos and Mrs. Delia Rebecca Thomas Pope. She was a member of Courtland Methodist Church and its Women’s Society of Christian Service and Mrs. Mary Cobb Circle, and Nottoway Women’s Club. She formerly taught in Franklin and Southampton County high schools. The Franklin High School annual was dedicated to her in 1965. Besides her husband, surviving are three sons, K.P. Magette and John N. Magette of Courtland and James B. Magette of Richmond; two daughters, Mrs. Ida Lou Thomas of Newport News and Mrs. Peggy Saunders of Decatur, Ga.; two brothers, Dr. T.B. Pope of Petersburg and W.B. Pope of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. Ella P. Brandon of Sarasota, Fla.; and three grandchildren. Virginia Louise (POPE; Mrs. Leroy A.)
