Rev. Floyd P. Davis conducted the services and two hymns, "Safe In The Arms of Jesus" and "Sometime We’ll Understand" were sung by ladies of the community. The deceased was the son of the late James and Mrs. Marietta Rowe McClenny and was born at the old homestead April 14, 1884*. He spent the greater part of his life in Norfolk, having made his home in Washington the past few years. He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Leona Lowe of Suffolk, Mrs. George Cobb of Windsor, Mrs. Emmett Rollings of Hopewell and Miss Jennie McClenny of Sedley; three brothers, J.D. McClenny and John McClenny of Franklin, a number of nieces and nephews, the latter serving as pallbearers. They 1m. 11 Jan 1923, in Waverly; they divorced in 1933, in Stafford Co. (Ancestry.com Virginia Vital Records) Alice is buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk.
