McClenny Carrsville, Nov. 14 - John D. McClenny, 75,well-known farmer of the Carrville community, died today about noon after a stroke while on his way to a hospital. He was the son of the late John F. and Elizabeth Gardner McClenny of Southampton County, and was a lifelong member of the Black Creek Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Essie Bailey McClenny, and a daughter, Miss Garrie McClenny, both of Carrsville; a son, Lonnie McClenny, of Franklin; three sisters, Mrs. R.W. Daughtery, Mrs. J.H. Whitfield and Mrs. O.F. Daughtrey, all of Portsmouth, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the W.J.M. Holland Funeral Home in Franklin, where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral chapel by the Rev. Curtis Hoffman, pastor of the Colosse Baptist Church and the Rev. Ellis Clark, pastor of the Mount Carmel Christian Church. Curtis Hoffman, pastor of Colosse Baptist Church; the Rev. Ellis Clark, pastor of Mount Carmel Christian Church, and the Rev. Edwin Thornton, pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wilson Holland, Paul Lowe, N.H. Bradshaw, Sam Butler, Sr., Elvin H. Whitley, Everett Williams, Herman Butler and Percy Whitley.
