McClenny, 71, Dairyman and Horseman Virginia Beach - Letcher Conway McClenny, 71, of 22 Outer Drive, a retired dairyman and horseman widely known in Tidewater and Maryland, died Wednesday at 1:35 a.m. in a hospital. A native of Franklin, he lived in the Norfolk and Virginia Beach area 28 years. He was the husband of Mrs. Antoinette Cotton McClenny and a son of Montrose Graham and Mrs. Leora Johnson McClenny. He retired in 1953 from the diary business in which he had been active since a young man. He was a founder and a charter member of the Norfolk Milk Producers Association. He participated in horse shows in Tidewater and in harness racing in Maryland and surrounding states 29 years. Besides his widow, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Marjorie M. Curtis, Mrs. Mildred S. Salter and Mrs. Virginia M. Page of Virgina Beach; three sons, L. Cotton McClenny and Gordon McClenny of Virginia Beach and W. Conway McClenny of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. J. Richard Lawrence of Franklin and Mrs. John R. Peele of Lewiston, N.C.; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Road, Friday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of L. Cotton McClenny of 1437 Kempsville Road.
