McLane and well-known resident of Franklin for 20 years, died at her home on South High Street this morning after an illness of one week. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, and of the Helen Henderson Circle of the Woman’s Missionary Society of the church. Besides her husband, she is survived by five daughters, Mrs. E.L. Edwards, of Washington; Mrs. H.S. Baker, of Norfolk; Mrs. John Beale, Mrs. S.H. Thorne, and Mrs. O.L. Lankford, of Franklin; nine grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. J.W. Turner, of Sedley and Mrs. S.P. Turner, of Suffolk. Funeral services will be held from the residence tomorrow afternoon at 4 o’clock by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson and the Rev. M.A. McLean, of Petersburg. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. The active pallbearers will be W.O. Bristow, J. Edward Moylar, E.A. Davis, N.C. Barbour, W.M. Bradshaw, J.W.B. Thompson, R.C. Branch and E.F. Gray; honorary, Paul Carr, R.C. Councill, W.E. Smith, Dr. Darden Jones, George Watkins, W.P. Lankford, Tall Jones, P.R. Camp, R.C. Beale, E.A. Bradshaw, T.C. Holland, Jr., Winston Browne, W.T. Pace, Paul Scarborough, J. Linwood Edwards and L. Vaughan. ****************************************************************************** REBECCA SCOTT McLANE Mrs. Rebecca Scott McLane, wife of J.R. McLane of this town, died at her home in South High Street early Sunday morning after a brief illness. Mrs. McLane was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carr Scott of this county, and had been a resident of Franklin for 20 years or more. She was a consistent communicant of the Franklin Baptist Church, of the King’s Servant Bible Class of its Sunday school and a loyal and active member of the Woman’s Missionary Society. She was a faithful and unselfish wife and mother, a good neighbor and a woman of many fine traits of character. Besides her husband, she is survived by five daughters; Mrs. H.S. Baker of Norfolk, Mrs. Emmett L. Edwards of Washington, Mrs. John E. Beale, Mrs. S.H. Thorne and Mrs. O.L. Lankford of Franklin; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. J.W. Turner of Sedley and Mrs. S.P. Turner of Norfolk, and by a large family connection throughout this section. Funeral rites were held from the McLane residence Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock by Rev. R.D. Stephenson, assisted by Dr. M.A. MacLean of Petersburg, a former pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church. Burial was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the pallbearers being: J. Edward Moyler, W.O. Bristow, E.A. Davis, N.C. Barbour, George Watkins, J.W.B. Thompson, R.C. Branch, and Ezra F. Gray. Honorary bearers were selected from a number of friends of the family. Rebecca K.
