Mason, beloved member of a prominent Southampton family, who numbered many friends in Boykins and throughout this county, died at her home, Mason's, in Sussex County July 20. Mrs. Mason was born in Drewryville February 10, 1859, daughter of the late William H. and Mrs. Carrie Barnes Drewry. In 1883 she became the wife of Robert Lee Mason of Mason's. To this union six children were born, three of whom survive her: Dr. Drewry H. Mason of Ridgeway, Professor John Y. Mason of Boykins and Miss Carrie Barnes Mason of Mason's. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Lula Blick, and a brother, Dr. W.S. Drewry, both of Richmond, three grandchildren, John Y. Mason, Jr., of Boykins, Miss Sallie Mason and Robert Mason of Ridgeway, and a large family connection. The funeral was conducted from her home Monday afternoon by her Pastor, Rev. R.H. Marks, assisted by Rev. J.L. Kibler and Rev. F.B. Handley of Boykins, Rev. W.T. Grant of Petersburg and Rev. Mr. Hamilton of Jarratt. The pallbearers were H.A. Moore and H.O. Carlton of Boykins, Amos P. Pope of Drewryville, A.W. Talley of Lewiston, Dr. T.F. Jarratt and J.M. Browder of Jarratt, W.S. Rawlings of Mason's and R.W. Little of Emporia.
