C. Richard Scott, the Rev. Ben B. Ussery and the Rev. Graham S. Carlton. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery. McDowell Funeral Home was in charge. Pallbearers were H.T. Smith, Lewis Knight, W.R. Emmons, George Davis, J.C. Bunn, R.A. Bunn, Herman Carlton, and Walter H. Britt. Mason, 78, retired principal of Boykins High School, died Thursday in a Richmond nursing home. A native of Sussex County, he was a son of Robert Lee and Mrs. Drewry Mason and the husband of the late Mrs. Annie Garrett Mason. He was a member of Boykins Methodist Church and a former Boykins town councilman. He was a director of Virginia National Bank and a past master and honorary member of Boykins Masonic Lodge. He was graduate of the College of William and Mary and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He is survived by a son, John Y. Mason, Jr. of Richmond; a foster son, Garrett Hughes Turner of Richmond; a brother, Dr. Drewry H. Mason, and a sister, Miss Carrie Mason, both of Ridgeway; and three grandchildren.
