McKinstry died at his country home near Boykins Tuesday morning, September 6, after a brief illness of pneumonia. He was a member of the Boykins Baptist Church, a true friend, a devote husband and a kind and loving father. Mr. McKinstry was born in Philadelphia in 1849, moved to Virginia and was twice married in his early twenties. The funeral services were conducted from his home by Rev. L.R. Black of the Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. A.C. Jordan, in the absence of his pastor, Rev. H. P. Dalton. Interment was made in Beechwood cemetery, where beautiful and profuse floral offerings were heaped upon the mound to attest the esteem and love in which he was held by sorrowing friends and loved ones. The pallbearers were: active, H.A. Moore, A.S. Francis, B.F. Britt, J.R. Person, H.V. Thornton, J.R. Hines, E.R. Bryant and T.H. Porter; honorary, W.A. Powell, E.H. Grizzard, H.G. Coleman, S.J. Myrick, J.D. Ferguson, W.H. Britt, A.L. Knight and J.M. Bland. In his going one of the happiest homes in our community is broken up, and our hearts with sympathy go out to those who are left. To mourn their loss: his wife, Mrs. Rosa H. McKinstry; one son, W.F. McKinstry of Boykins; five daughters, Mrs. H.F. Night of Boykins, Mrs. B.N. Williams of Pope, Mrs. M.K. Edwards, of Rocky Mount, N.C.; Mrs. F.H. Cook and Mrs. E.G. Williams of Richmond, and one brother, Dr. J.J. McKinstry of Pottsville, Penn.
