Rock, after short illness. A lifelong resident of Southampton County, he was a son of W.J. and Rosa Barkley McKinstry and the husband of the late Elizabeth Powell McKinstry. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Rock, he is survived by a grandson, James W. Rock, Jr., of Boykins, and four sisters, Mrs. York Cook and Mrs. Guy Williams of Richmond, Mrs. Marvin Edwards of Ricky Mount, N.C., and Mrs. Laura Williams of Courtland. The body was taken today at 2 p.m. to Boykins Baptist church, of which he was a member, for a funeral service at 3 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Ben B. Ussery, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Harold G. Thach of the Methodist Church. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were S.J. Wilson, Malcolm Coleman, W.H. Powell, Jr., Jack M. Powell, John William, Lawrence Williams, H.T. Smith and L.F. Draper.
