For some years she had been a faithful and helpful member of the Adam's Grove Baptist church, Petersburg Association, and we, the members, wish to express our sorrow at her going and our deep and abiding sympathy for those who most keenly feel their loss. He would tell us (Rev. 22:3), "His servants shall serve him." Sure it must be a high privilege for one who has served him faithfully down here to be called up higher, where that service is to be continued throughout the unending ages. Sister Mattox was born September 24, 1896, in Southampton county, Va., where she spent her short life, until "like a flower she was soon cut down." She was the daughter of Mrs. Nannie E. Hall. After her marriage she moved a few miles from her birthplace to live at Adam's Grove. To mourn her going she leaves three brothers, W.B. Hall, G.A. Hall and H.T. Hall; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Grizzard and Mrs. J.J. Sharpe, of Petersburg, Va.; her mother, Mrs. Nannie E. Hall, and a dear little girl, Edna Mattox, aged two years and six months. Our sister came from a Methodist family. She was a member of the Methodist church in her girlhood days, but after her marriage came to the Baptist church of Adam's Grove with her husband. Burial services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. L.W. Kersey, on Friday, February 25, 1927, at two o'clock. Interment was at the cemetery of Adam's Grove church. Here in the presence of a large group of friends, she was laid to rest to await the resurrection morn. MRS. P.A. FOX, MRS. A.R. GRIZZARD, Rev. L.W. KERSEY, Committee. ****************************************************************************** NEWS OF THE WEEK FROM DREWRYVILLE Several from here attended the burial services of Mrs. Gladys Mattox in Adams Grove last Friday afternoon.
