Meadows, 69, of Ivor, Dead IVOR - John W. Meadows, 69, died yesterday at 3:30 in a Suffolk hospital after a brief illness. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Purviance Funeral Chapel in Wakefield. Burial will be in the Ivor Cemetery. He was a native of Braxton County, W.Va., and had operated an automobile service station at Ivor the last five years. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J.J. Dennie of South Charleston, W.Va., Mrs. W.F. Banson and Mrs. R.K. Laughrey, both of Dunbar, W.Va., one son, Virgil Meadows of Miami, Fla.; five grandchildren; one brother, W.T. Meadows of Green, Ky.; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Startcher of Albuquerque, N.M., Mrs. Lula Nettles of Gipp, W.Va., and Mrs. Nolie Hess of Camden-on-Gauley, W.Va., and several nieces and nephews. ****************************************************************************** John W. Meadows John W. Meadows, 69, a resident of Ivor for the past five years, died in a Suffolk hospital at 3:30 o'clock Thursday morning, May 16, after a brief illness. A native of Braxton [sic*] County, W.Va., he was the proprietor of a service station in Ivor. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J.J. Dennie of South Charleston, W.Va., and Mrs. W.F. Ranson and Mrs. R.K. Langhrey, both of Dunbar, W.Va.; one son, Virgil Meadows of Miami, Fla; one brother, W.T. Meadows of Gree, Ky.; and three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Startcher of Albuquerque, N. Mex., Mrs. Lula Nettles of Gipp, W.Va. and Mrs. Nolie Hess of Camden-on-Gauley, W. Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Rites for Mr. Meadows were conducted at the Purviance Funeral Home in Wakefield on Saturday morning at 11 o'clock by Rev. Jeff Monroe, pastor of the Zuni Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Ivor Cemetery, pallbearers being L.R. Bracey, Warren Cobb, Wayland Councill, John O'Berry, and Bennie Worrell. Lula is buried in Glendale Cemetery, South Charleston, Kanawha Co., WV. His WW-II draft card gives b. 14 Mar 1888, Nicholas Co., WV. He was appointed Postmaster of Henshaw, Kanawha Co., WV, in 1908. His parents, Thomas B. & Mary Jane (HOLCOMB) MEADOWS, are buried in Elmira Cemetery, Braxton Co., WV.
