[...] In Southampton county, on Sunday, a house near Jerusalem, occupied by a colored* man named Mathews, was struck by lightning, and himself and child instanly killed. [...] The storm last Saturday was one of the most terrific, and a gentleman by the name of Matthews, and his little daughter, two or three years of age, living near here on the land of Mr. C.C. Williams, were struck snd killed by lightning. His wife also was so severely shocked that it is thought that she will finally die from the shock. PHOCIAN. Jesse W.R.
