Joseph Polinksi. Burial was in Edgewood Cemetery with Byred-Walker Funeral Home in charge. A native of Bertie County, he was the husand of Mrs. Elizabeth Leggett Mitchell and a son of John and Mrs. Magnolia Rice Mitchell. He was a retired farmer and a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. Besides his widow, surviving are two sons, Patrick H. Mitchell Jr.* and George Mitchell of Windsor; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Mitchell Barnes of Boykins*; a sister Mrs. Magnolia Mitchell Leggett of Nashville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A-5 *Additional information: His parents were John and Magnolia "Maggie" (RICE) MITCHELL, m. 20 Feb 1889, Bertie Co., NC. I read their ages as 58 & 28, but John's was transcribed as 50; 58 has been submitted to Ancestry as an alternate age. (Bertie Co. M.Reg, p. 55; Ancestry.com "North Carolina Marriages, 1741-2011") The family appears in the 1900 Census in Windsor Twp. (ed 22), Bertie Co., NC, which gives "P.H." b. July 1898, NC. John was b. Nov 1830, NC. Maggie was b. Dec 1864, NC. They'd been married 11 years, and had three (of five) children surviving. (sheet 1B) His N.C. Death Certificate (#20183) gives b. 1 Nov 1898, NC. There is no Find A Grave Memorial for Patrick Sr. (Jul 2016), but there is one for Patrick Jr. (#33997497), also buried in Edgewood Cemetery. His daughter Ruth is buried in Beechwood Cemetery (BE-ANX3K-1), Boykins.
