Harry Bunch. Burial was in the Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. Pallbearers were Leslie Bryant, Norman Porter, Delbert L. Whitehead, William Britt, J.C. Johnson Jr. and David C. Blythe, Jr. Mrs. Miles was the wife of Enoch I. Miles and a daughter of James Elbert and Mrs. Mary Johnson Britt. She was a native of Hertford County, N.C. and a practical nurse. Mrs. Miles was a member of the Barnes United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, other survivors are one grandson, Oscar L. Gray, Jr. of Chester (formerly of Franklin); one sister, Mrs. Vennie Williams of Rocky Mounty, N.C., one brother, Jimmie Guy Britt of Como, N.C.; three stepsons, Berkley C. Gray and Ashby Gray, both of Boykins; Marvin Gray of Shallotte, N.C.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Floyd Bryant, also of Boykins; and two great-grandson. She 3m. 30 Mar 1962 widower Enoch Israel MILES. He is buried with his second wife (of 4) in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms. Hertford Co., m. 14 Dec 1882, Maneys Neck, by Rev. R.R. Savedge wits: J.B. Story, D. Williams, J.P. Brett (Hertford Co., NC, M.Reg.) Her parents are buried at New Hope Church, near Como, NC (Find A Grave Mem. #81752855) Her father (1834 - 1915) was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Co. H, 41st VA Infantry. Her step-mother (1855 - 1930) applied for a pension 28 Jun 1924 in Southampton Co. Her father d. 28 Nov 1915, age 82, in Maney's Neck Dist., Hertford Co., NC, of Facial Carcinoma. (NC D.Cert. #508) He left will 23 Oct 1903, proved 16 Dec 1915. (Hertford Co., NC, WB D:373-75) Her father & step-mother are marked in the New Hope Church Site Historic Cemetery, near Como, Hertford Co., NC. Her father ("1833 - 1915") also has a Confederate gravestone in a field just outside Como, NC.
