All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ NINA FERGUSON MILES NEWSOMS - A funeral service for Mrs. Nina Ferguson Miles was conducted Monday at 3 p.m. in McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins, by the Rev. C. Allen Lawrence. Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery. The family met at the home of Mrs. Clarice Cogsdale. Pallbearers were John Worrell, Jack Bunn Sr., Leroy Dail, Fred Worrell, J.C. Story, E. Beale Carter Jr., George Tom Drake and Lloyd Taylor. Mrs. Miles, 86, died Thursday in a Portsmouth nursing home after a long illness. A native of Southampton County, she was the widow of Henry Thomas Miles and a daughter of Samuel T. and Mrs. Victoria Bryant Ferguson. She was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church and the organizer and a charter member of Newsoms Golden Age Club. She is survived by seven step-daughters, Mrs. Susie Coleman and Mrs. Mae Ferguson of Courtland, Mrs. Tommie Miles, Mrs. Clarice Cogsdale, Mrs. Lorena Porter, Mrs. Viola Bunn of Newsoms, and Mrs. Josephine Cogsdale of Apopka, Fla.; and a stepson, Kent Miles of Courtland.
