A funeral service for Crawford Munford Sr. was conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Black Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. C.L. Gatling. Burial was in the church cemetery with W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Lonnie Umphlett, Louis Umphlett, John Munford, Alvin Munford, Theo Beale, Leland Beale, Charlie Holland and J.E. Stieh. Munford, 83, died Sunday in Medical College of Virginia Hospital, Richmond. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Bettie Brock Munford and a son of Alex and Mrs. Cherry Munford.* He was a retired farmer and the oldest member of Black Creek Baptist Church and its Men’s Bible Class. Besides his widow, surviving are two sons, Crawford Munford Jr. of Franklin and Jasper Munford of Carrsville; two daughters, Mrs. George M. Brock and Mrs. Frank Vasser of Franklin; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. ****************************************************************************** CRAWFORD MUNFORD SR.
