He was a retired carpenter and painter. A native of Southampton County, he lived here most of his life. He was a son of Charlie Q. and Mrs. Mattie Branch Mumford. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. J. Thomas Bradshaw of Ivor and Mrs. J.W. Bryant of Suffolk. A funeral service was held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. C.L. Gatling. Burial was a Millfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
