Munford COURTLAND - Mrs. Mittie Beale Munford, 72, died Friday in a Norfolk hospital. A native of Southampton County, she was the daughter of Willie and Mrs. Mattie* Pond Beale and the widow of Herman Munford. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. She is survived by six sons, Willie H. Munford of Hertford, N.C., John H. Munford of Virginia Beach, Charlie J. Munford of Courtland, Howard L. Munford of Suffolk, Grover H. Munford of Charlottesville, and Rufus J. Munford of Norfolk; five sisters, Mrs. Maggie Byrum of Norfolk, Mrs. Ellen Williams of Walters, Mrs. Bert McClenny of Buckhorn, Mrs. Eunice Tomlin of Burdette and Mrs. Marie Fowler of Holland; a brother, Robert P. Beale of Norfolk; 15 grand- children; and a great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held today at 3 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park. Holland and Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park. Pallbearers were George Hedgepeth, James A. Surace, John Robert Harrup, Ray Copeland, Joe Harrell and Michael Munford. A native of Southampton County, she was the widow of Herman Munford and a daughter of Willie and Mrs. Mattie* Pond Beale.
