MONAGHAN DIES; FUNERAL TUESDAY FRANKLIN - Mrs. Elizabeth McGowan Monaghan, 86, died at her home on 1st avenue Saturday night after a long illness. She was the widow of Charles Patrick Monaghan and the daughter of Francis and Mrs. Esther Innes McGowan of Glasgow, Scotland. Mr. and Mrs. Monaghan came to Franklin in 1908. She is survived by three sons, James Monaghan of Portsmouth, Charles Patrick Monaghan, Jr., of Franklin, and M-Sgt. Joseph P. Monaghan, USA, stationed at Ft. Lewis, Wash.; three daughters, Mrs. L.W. Serig of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Mrs. Virginia Parks of Franklin, and Mrs. E.K. Ellis of Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. The body was taken to W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, where a rosary service will be held in the chapel tonight at 7:30. A funeral mass will be conducted at St. Jude Church Tuesday at 10 a.m. by the Rev. William D. McGonigle. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers will be F.F. Powell, W. Tall Jones, Hubert Raiford, Franklin Whitfield, Roy Edwards, Eldridge Smith, J. Richard Lawrence and Willie Weede.
