Holland and Sons Funeral Home by Rev. James B. Douglas, pastor of High Street Methodist Church. Mr. Monaghan’s body was found Saturday about 10 a.m. beside the railroad near Isaac Siding, Southampton County. Death was attributed to a heart attack. A native of Glasgow, Scotland, he was the son of Mrs. Elizabeth McGowan Monaghan of Franklin and the late Charles Patrick Monaghan. He moved to Franklin with his family about 50 years ago. He was employed as a painter. Besides his mother, he is survived by three brothers, James Monaghan of Craddock, Charles Patrick Monaghan, Jr., of Franklin and M/Sgt. Joseph P. Monaghan, USA, Portland, Ore.; three sisters, Mrs. L.W. Serig of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Mrs. E.K. Ellis of Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs. Virginia Parks of Franklin, and several nieces and nephews. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Active pallbearers were W. Hunter Scott, David T. Lawrence, Fred Rabil, G. Hinson Parker, Jr., Roy Edwards and Otis Blythe.
