BETTY MANRY

   Betty Manry, five-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.M. Manry of Courtland, 
died in a Richmond hospital November 11, after a brief illness.  In addition to 
her parents, she is survived by one sister, Katherine Mayo Manry, a 
grandmother, Mrs. T.W. Shiflett of Palmyra, Va., and a number of aunts and 
uncles.

   Funeral services were conducted at the home last Friday afternoon at 3:30 
o’clock.  After a brief scripture reading and prayer by Rev. F.P. Davis, pastor 
of the Courtland Baptist Church, Mrs. Sallie Richardson sang "Safe In The Arms 
of Jesus."

   Interment was made in the Mahone Cemetery, Rev. A.W. Roten, pastor of the 
Courtland Methodist Church, conducting the services at the grave.  Active 
pallbearers were: Charles Shiflett, Railey Shiflett, Pendleton Shiflett, 
Pendleton Shiflett, Jr., Wilbur Manry and Edward Manry.

   Betty was a member of the Primary Sunday School class of the Baptist Church, 
a child with an unusually happy disposition and beloved by all of her friends. 
During her five years her sunny personality gave happiness to all those around 
her.
