All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ EUGENE VERNON MOORE Eugene Vernon Moore, 65, a resident of Franklin for the past 35 years, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital early Saturday morning, November 10, after an illness of many months. A native of Brunswick County, Mr. Moore was the husband of Mrs. Philena Rivers Moore of Franklin and the son of the late William and Sarah Brewer Moore. He was a lumber inspector for Camp Manufacturing Co., Inc. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. B. Hubert Beale of Courland; two sons, Eugene V. Moore, Jr., of Arlington and W. Smithy Moore of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; one brother, Wiley Moore of Emporia; and two sisters, Mrs. Merritt Lambert of Brodnax and Mrs. A.M. Wrenn of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. Funeral services for Mr. Moore were conducted on Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at High Street Methodist Church, of which the deceased was a member, by the pastor, Rev. Elmer N. Hassell, assisted by Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church, and Rev. J.S. Maxey. Interment was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The pallbearers were Warren Beale, Paul Boone, S.A. Carr, W.F. Keeter, John H. Scott, Edward Spivey, Harry Steinhardt and Willie M. Weede.
