Suffolk, Va., April 11. - Rev. James Murray, D.D., for more than fifty years a prominent divine of the Presbyterian Church, died here this afternoon in the eightieth year of his age. For twenty-four years, Dr. Murray served the Bethel Church, of Augusta County, and for more than twenty years he was pastor of the College Park Church, at Hampden-Sidney. Of his immediate family, Dr. Murray is survived by his sister, Mrs. Allie Murrelle, a brother, Dr. W.W. Murray, of Suffolk; a nephew, H. For twenty-four years Dr. Murray served the Bethel church, of Augusta county, Virginia, and for more than twenty years was pastor of the College Park, Hampden-Sidney, Va. Of his own immediate family Dr. Murray is survived by one sister, Mrs. Allie Murrelle, and one brother, Dr. W.W. Murray, of Suffolk, one nephew, H. JAMES MURRAY IS BURIED IN SUFFOLK Suffolk, Va., April 14. - (Special.) Funeral services for the Rev. Dr. James Murray, who died in the home of Mrs. Ida Eley, took place yesterday, the Rev. Mr. Chinn, assisted by the Rev. W. A. Hall, officiating. Dr. Murray was twice married. His first wife was Miss Pattie Riddick, of Hertford county, N.C. Of this marriage there was one son, the late Dr. Robert Wallace Murray. His second wife was Miss Lucy Allen, of Suffolk, sister of R.R. Allen, of Suffolk, and of the late Mrs. A.S. Darden. Of his own immediate family he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Allie Murrelle, of Suffolk; one brother, Dr. W.W. Murray, of Suffolk; one nephew, H. Dunbar Murray, of Roanoke, Va., and one niece, Miss Fannie Dunbar Murray, of Staunton, Va. ****************************************************************************** FORMER PASTOR OF BETHEL DEAD Relatives here have just heard of the death of Rev. Jas. Murray, D.D., a venerable and prominent Presbyterian minister at his home with Mrs. Ida Eley on Bank street, Suffolk, Va., having been in failing health for some time. Dr. James Murray was born in Southampton county in 1834, the son of the late Dr. Robert Murray. For more than half a century he had labored as a minister of the Presbyterian church. For twenty-four years he was the beloved pastor of Bethel church, Augusta county, Va., leaving that charge on account of his wife's failing health to accept a professorship in the Agnes Scott College, Decatur, Ga., serving there in that capacity most acceptably for two years. He was not satisfied, however, to be out of the active ministry, and accepted a call to the church at Bedford City, where he served several years, until he was called to the college church at Hampden-Sidney College. He served a devoted people for many years, until a few years ago he retired from the ministry on account of his age and failing health, since which time he had made his home in Suffolk. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church, Suffolk, Monday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Mr. Chinn, former pastor, assisted by Rev. W.A. Hall, present pastor of the Suffolk church. Rev.
