HILDA JANE AVENT MURFEE

   Mrs. Hilda Jane Murfee, 79, of Drewryville, died Sunday morning at the home 
of her daughter, Mrs. S.H. Rawls, near Liberty Spring, in Nansemond County, 
while on a visit.

   Besides her husband, J.D. Murfee, she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. 
James C. Eason of Roanoke; Mrs. Shirley H. Rawls [sic; Rawles] of Nansemond 
County; Mrs. William T. Ward of Norfolk and Mrs. Walter R. Bennett of Hartley, 
S.D.; one son, J. Harold Murfee of Raleigh; seven grandchildren, one great-
grandchild, and a brother, J.R. Avent of Roanoke.  Mrs. Murfee had lived in 
Drewryville for many years, and had a wide circle of friends.

   Funeral services were held at Liberty Spring Christian Church Monday 
afternoon at 2 o’clock by Dr. I.W. Johnson, and the Rev. J.S. Maxey, burial 
being made in the church cemetery.
