Murphy of Newsoms, died at the Tidewater Memorial Hospital Monday morning after an illness of several months. Mrs. Murphy was a lifelong member of Newsoms Baptist Church, a loveable Christian character, her happiest moments being spent in serving others. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Julian C. Taylor of Richmond, one son, Ralph C. Murphy of Suffolk; a sister, Mrs. W.T. O’berry and a brother, J.T. Story, both of Newsoms; a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock by her Pastor, Rev. C.P. Cleveland, assisted by Rev. C.F. Moseley of the Methodist Church. Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery. The casket was covered with a pall of lilies and red roses. Active pallbearers were: C.C. Bradshaw, C.Q. Ferguson, W.E. Griffin, W.T. O’berry, Jr., R.B. Story, Jr., G.R. Fowler, Dr. B.A. Pope and George T. Cook, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were selected from friends of the family. Hattie Mae (VICK; Mrs. Edward C.)
