All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ HENRY EARL MARKS Henry Earl Marks, 51, a farmer residing near Courtland, died at his home on Sunday afternoon, November 21, after an illness of two years’ duration. He was the son of the late Edward Lewis and Mrs. Fannie Brown Fox Marks of Pope, and the husband of Mrs. Ethel Davis Marks of Courtland. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Katherine Marks Williams of Franklin; four sons, Benjamin E., Lon S., Jesse T., and Aubrey Pope Marks of the Courtland community; three grandchildren; four brothers, Robert F. Marks of Boykins, Lewis M. Marks of Franklin, Hinson P. Marks of Suffolk, and Edward L. Marks, Jr., of Sebrell; four sisters, Mrs. V.S. Pittman of Capron, Mrs. J.F. Culpepper of Suffolk, Mrs. Clyde Edwards of Franklin, and Mrs. S.E. White of Newport News. Funeral services for Mr. Marks were conducted from the residence at three o’clock Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Allen W. Linthicum, Rev. L.D. Stables, Rev. R.H. Marks and Rev. Elmer N. Hassell. Burial was in the Capron Cemetery, active pallbearers being nephews of the deceased, George Hinson Marks, Frank Culpepper, Jr., V.S. Pittman, Jr., Paul Camp Marks, Edward L. Marks, 3rd, Tyler Edwards, Jr., Lewis Holmes Marks and Paul Woodrow Marks.
