Brown School since 1928, died Wednesday morning at her home here at 415 St. Andrew St. Miss Murfee came to Petersburg in 1924 from Norfolk, where she held a principal-ship, and taught in schools here until Jan. 31, 1927, when she was appointed to the Bolling Junior High School faculty. The following year she was made principal at the D.M. Brown School and held that position until his death. At one time she was supervisor of schools in Augusta County and prior to that she taught in Birmingham, Ala. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Rosa C. Murfee, of Richmond; four sisters, Mrs. T.B. Ray of Richmond; Mrs. W.R. McPherson, of Norfolk; Mrs. A.W. Marable, of Portsmouth, and Mrs. David Hottenstein, of Nashville, Tenn., and two brothers, J.A. Murfee, of Norfolk, and E.Q. Murfee, of Drewryville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the J.T. Morris & Son Funeral Home, with burial at 1:30 p.m. in the family cemetery at Drewryville.
