All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOSEPH MANNING NICHOLSON Joseph Manning Nicholson, 85, well-known farmer of the Capron community, died Tuesday afternoon, May 30, at his home after an illness of many months. He was the husband of Mrs. Ella Joyner Nicholson and son of the late Londy and Elizabeth Davis Nicholson of Sussex County. Besides his wife he is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Annie Kitchen of Capron, Mrs. Daisy Edwards and Mrs. Vanola Giles of Norfolk, Mrs. Pearl Wills of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Ruby McKennon of Hampton and Mrs. Mary Johnson of Newport News; one son, Robert Lee Nicholson of Capron; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ella Brantley of Elizabeth City County; two brothers, A.B. Nicholson of Sussex County and J.D. Nicholson of Hopewell. Funeral services were conducted at the residence Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. by the Rev. L.D. Stables, the Rev. R.H. Marks and the Rev. C. Bailey Jones. Burial was in Sebrell Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Jesse Vick, Lee Felts, J.C. Williams, Thomas Gardner, Irving Baker and Paul Joyner.
