Charles Spivey and the Rev. Daniel Spell. Burial was in Drewryville Cemetery. McDowell Funeral Home in Boykins was in charge. Pallbearers were Bruce Flowers Jr., Louis Covington, Robert Edwards, Robert Cobb, Wallace Spain, James Spain, Tilman Spain, Wilson Spain, and Charles Spain. Newsome, 44, died Thursday morning in his home. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of Mrs. Essie Edwards Newsome and the late Charlie Lawrence Newsome. He was a member of Drewryville Methodist Church, a veteran of World War II, and a retail clerk. Besides his mother, he is survived by two brothers, C.L. Newsome Jr. of San Diego, Calif., and James E. Newsome of Drewryville; and a sister, Mrs. John H. Rogaleski of Tampa, Fla.
