All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JULIUS BAKER NEWSOME [sic; NEWSOM*] HOLLAND - Julius Baker Newsome, 83, well-known resident and lumberman of Holland, and a former resident of Southampton County, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hope Butler, Sunday morning after an illness of many months. He was the husband of the late Frances Lizzie [sic; Laura] Britton Newsome. Surviving are three sons, Roma W. Newsome, Julius B. Newsome, Jr., and Sidney C. Newsome, all of Franklin; four daughters, Mrs. Lizzie M. Burgess of Courtland, Mrs. Anna N. Wade of Jarratt, Mrs. Essie Powers of Norfolk and Mrs. Hope N. Butler of Holland; 36 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, and the Rev. J.S. Peebles, pastor of Capron Methodist Church. Burial will be in Black Creek Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hugie Powers, Jr., Roland Newsome, Lloyd M. Burgess, Emerson Burgess, Leslie R.
