Edwin Thornton, Jr. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park. W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home was in charge. Pallbearers were William L. Blythe, Paul Gerald, W. Lester Butler, Robert Faison, E. Hunter Daughtrey and W.B. Speight. Newsome, 17, died Friday as results of an automobile accident of U.S. 258 about five miles north of Murfreesboro, N.C. A native of Franklin, he was a son of Julius Baker Newsome Jr. and Mrs. Roberta Foxwell Newsome and a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Dennis M. Newsome of Franklin and Ralph James Newsome of the U.S. Navy, and a sister, Miss Rebecca L. Newsome of Franklin.
